How we're funded

Affiliate Disclosure

Track & Canopy is reader-funded through affiliate links — no paywalls, no sponsored posts, no display advertising. This page explains exactly how that works and where it can never reach.

Last updated .

The short version

Track & Canopy is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and its Australian equivalent. Some links on this site — including “Check price” buttons on buying guides, comparison pages and product reviews — are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. That commission is paid by Amazon out of its own margin; the price you pay at checkout is identical whether you follow our link or find the product yourself.

How the links work

  • All affiliate links on this site point to amazon.com.au. We do not link into other marketplaces.
  • Our Associates tracking ID (trackcanopy-22) is added to links automatically at the moment the page is rendered — it is a referral label, nothing more.
  • When you click through, Amazon sets its own cookie in your browser to attribute any purchase within its standard attribution window. That cookie is governed by Amazon's privacy policy, not ours — see our Privacy Policy for what we collect before you leave.
  • Disclosure appears where it belongs: on this page, in footers, and in the body of any guide that recommends products, so no reader has to hunt for it.

Commissions vs verdicts

The commercial side of the site is firewalled from the editorial side. In practice that means:

  • No paid placements. No brand, retailer or agency can buy a position in a ranking, a star rating, a verdict or a “best for…” call.
  • Commission never changes a verdict. A product that earns us more is not ranked above a better product that earns less. We will happily recommend gear that costs you nothing extra to buy elsewhere, and we will tell you when the cheap option is the right one.
  • Negative findings stay published. Trade-offs, limitations and “who should look elsewhere” sections are part of every review format on this site, on pain of the piece failing its own audit.
  • Unverified claims are marked, not invented. Where a spec, price or rating has not been verified against a live source, it is shown as unverified rather than guessed.

This approach follows the spirit of ACCC guidance on affiliate marketing and the FTC's “clear and conspicuous” standard: disclosure at the point where the money could surprise you.

Prices & availability

Prices, stock and delivery terms on Amazon change constantly. Where our pages quote a figure, it is the price checked on the date shown next to it, and it is indicative only — always confirm the live price on the retailer's page before buying. Nothing on this site is an offer or a quote; we are a publication, not a seller.

Questions

If something on this site looks like a hidden commercial arrangement — a ranking that smells wrong, a disclosure you couldn't find — we want to hear about it at hello@trackandcanopy.com.au. Honest funding only survives honest scrutiny.
